WHO'S THAT GUY?

A portrait of Cameron O'Neill, Edmonton piano technician

My name is Cameron O'Neill, and I'm a piano technician based in Edmonton, Alberta.

I received a BMus in Composition from MacEwan University in 2016, and have been working steadily as a session musician since 2012.

From a young age, I had learned to tune guitars by ear. The sound of two notes slowly being drawn back into tune with one another has always carried with it a deep sense of peace and satisfaction.

By the time I reached my late 20's, I found myself learning more about the science and the art of tuning pianos, collecting tools and experimenting on the pianos of some very trusting peers.

In 2020, I tuned for my first professional clients and since then have had the great pleasure to work on many a wonderful piano in the Edmonton area. Notable clients include the Edmonton Convention Centre, Piano Centre Edmonton, Knox Evangelical Church, as well as numerous local pianists, teachers, and musicians.

The craft of the piano technician is one that involves mechanical knowledge, a finely-tuned ear, and a deep respect for the history and personality of the piano. I continue to refine these skills and learn with each instrument I encounter, and I would be honoured to help your instrument sing to its full potential!
